To better assist all our users with questions about the Spend Cloud, we have introduced DIRK Chat Help. In this article, we explain everything about how to chat with our AI assistant, DIRK, and what you can expect.
What is DIRK Chat Help?
DIRK Chat Help is an in-app AI assistant designed to help you with all your questions regarding the Spend Cloud. This assistant utilizes modern LLM (Large Language Model) techniques. DIRK Chat Help exclusively uses our own knowledge base to find answers to your questions. This means it cannot provide answers regarding matters not documented in the knowledge base. Furthermore, DIRK Chat Help does not have access to data within your specific Spend Cloud environment; therefore, it cannot answer questions about specific items such as processed invoices, orders, or payments.
How do you chat with AI assistant DIRK?
In the blue bar at the top, you will see the "Ask DIRK" button, which gives you three choices. When you click on "DIRK Chat Help," a chat window opens where you can ask DIRK any questions regarding the Spend Cloud. By default, DIRK answers your questions in Dutch. If you ask your questions in English or German, the AI will suggest switching the conversation to one of those languages.
DIRK then searches for an answer in the knowledge base. You will also see the source(s) (DIRK article(s)) for the answer, which you can click on if needed. DIRK also suggests follow-up questions; clicking these will automatically ask the question and provide an answer. You can ask as many questions as you like!

How do I ask DIRK questions (optimally)?
Once the chat window is open, you can start asking questions. Just like other AI language models, DIRK works best if you provide a brief bit of context in your question. Keep in mind that some terms and features overlap in different areas of the Spend Cloud. For example, since you can review both invoices and orders, you help the assistant significantly by specifying which menu section or module your question is about.
Providing feedback to DIRK
You can easily provide feedback on DIRK’s answers by clicking the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" icons. If you give a thumbs down, please indicate in the chat why you are dissatisfied; the AI can use this information to improve its responses. We will also monitor conversations to improve the content of our Knowledge Base.
What other features does DIRK Chat Help offer?
After you ask a question, the window is split into two tabs: next to "Chat," you can switch to "Search." The Search option can be used to find DIRK articles relevant to your query. Finally, via the three dots (menu), you can choose several options: change the language, maximize the screen (which also allows you to view conversation history), start a new conversation, or download a transcript of the chat.
Please note: DIRK Chat Help is an additional tool to help you get started quickly. Our regular Support department remains available as usual, just as you are accustomed to.
