You can change the PIN of a Spend Cloud Card as you wish. However, there are a few important points to consider if you choose to change the PIN.
The new PIN at online and offline payment terminals
In the Netherlands, the vast majority of payment terminals are connected to the internet. At these terminals, the new PIN will work immediately. However, there are also payment terminals that are not connected to the internet (offline terminals). You may encounter these in the Netherlands, but they are relatively common abroad.
By inserting the card into the payment terminal and entering the new PIN at the first payment after changing the PIN, you ensure that the new PIN is active at both online and offline payment terminals.
If the new PIN is rejected, you are unfortunately paying at an offline terminal. In that case, pay with your old PIN (or cancel the payment) and try again in another store.
Are you traveling abroad with your Spend Cloud Card?
Make sure that after changing the PIN, you have used the card at least once in a payment terminal in the Netherlands and paid with the new PIN. This way, you can be sure that you can use the new PIN at offline terminals abroad, preventing unpleasant situations where payments are refused.
