Closing a balance account at Adyen

There can be multiple reasons for wanting to close a balance account at Adyen. Maybe you have multiple accounts and realize it’s better to close one or more of them. It could also be that you want to discontinue using the Cash & Card module altogether. In this article, we explain what you can do.

Steps to close an account balance

1.) First, make sure you are certain about this decision. Once the balance account is closed, it cannot be reversed.
2.) Block all associated cards in Application Management / Cash & Card / Card Management. You can select the correct balance account on the left side.
3.) Preferably, have the user cut up and discard the physical cards. You do not need to discard virtual cards (as they do not physically exist). These cards were automatically removed from the employee in the previous step.
4.) Now send an email to support@proactive.nl and indicate which  balance account(s) you want to close. We need confirmation of this by email, so calling us is not convenient in this case. The support consultant will ensure that any remaining amount on this balance account is refunded to your house bank. The support consultant will also deactivate the account. The account will no longer be visible in your Spend Cloud.

Steps to cancel the entire Cash & Card module subscription
