Closing the period of a book as an administrator
As an application administrator or member of the financial administration team, you may have the authority
to close a book period. In this article, we explain which permissions your role needs for this task, and how an administrator can close a book period.
Required Permissions
In the role/function profile on which the employee’s role is based, the option Close period must be enabled. If the rights set on which the role is based includes the
Module Administrator for Cash & Card and has Close period enabled, the user can close periods for all books.

How to close a period, and how it differs from closing it without module administrator rights
A book period can be closed via the menu: Cash & Card / Entries. Select the book and the period, then click the Close Period button at the top of the screen. The period can only be closed if all entries are fully coded and—where required—attachments have been added.
Note! When you close a period as a Cash & Card Module Administrator, the following differences apply compared to an employee who closes a period without these rights:
- The period will not be sent for review to the reviewer(s) of the book. That step is skipped, and the period appears directly in the Export section, for further processing in your financial system.
- If petty cash is registered, the system will not prompt for a cash count.
