Using a Web Service and Unable to Export a Book to the Financial Package Exact Globe? This issue can have several causes.
The cause might be translated into an error message that you can see in the export report. This error message is returned by the financial package and indicates why the book could not be exported. Unfortunately, this error message often does not clearly indicate what needs to be done to successfully export the book.
In this article, we have collected a number of error messages with possible explanations and what you can do to solve the problem.
Exact Globe Web Service
- Error Message: Financial Entry 24012345 - May not be empty. [Our ref.: '12345678'], Total amount of the lines must be equal.
Possible Cause:The amounts being exported do not match what Exact expects.
Possible Solution: Check in Exact whether the VAT code(s) used in Spend Cloud are set as 'inclusive' and whether the percentage matches the percentage in Spend Cloud.
- Error Message: Booking Number - Validation error: Entity: Journal is closed for this period. [Created: '1/20/2023']
Possible Cause: The period you are exporting falls within a period that is closed in Exact.
Possible Solution: Use the period adjustment option to export to an open period with the 'older only' option, or open the relevant period in Exact.
- Error Message: Booking Number - Validation error: Entity: May not be empty. [Cost center/cost carrier: '']
Possible Cause: At least one of the bookings does not have a cost center or cost carrier filled in, while Exact expects this based on the filled-in general ledger.
Possible Solution: Code the invoice with a cost center, or adjust the settings within Exact so that a cost center is no longer mandatory.
- Error Message: Booking Number - Validation error: Entity: Invalid: Cost center/Cost unit link [Cost center: '408']
Possible Cause: At least one of the bookings uses a cost center or cost carrier that is not allowed to be used with the selected general ledger.
Possible Solution: Ensure that the relevant cost center or cost carrier is properly set up within Exact or choose a different cost center for these booking(s).
Web Service Error Messages
Sometimes you may receive error messages related to the Web service. These can be caused by IT-related changes or updates to your Web service installation. In most cases, these error messages can be resolved by your own IT team or the administrator of the Exact Globe Web service.
- Error Message: Booking Number - SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: Couldn't load from 'https://exact.proactive.nl/ProActive/FinancialService.svc?wsdl%27 : failed to load external entity "https://exact.proactive.nl/ProActive/FinancialService.svc?wsdl%22
Possible Cause: This message indicates that the Exact Globe Web service is not reachable by Spend Cloud. This could be due to server maintenance or because something has changed IT-wise (IP block).
Possible Solution: If this problem persists, we advise you to contact your IT team, who maintains your Exact Globe Web service installation.
- Error Message: Booking Number - -
Possible Cause: When Spend Cloud does not receive a response from the Web service, it may be that processes of the Web service have stalled.
Possible Solution: Your own IT team or the maintainer of the Exact Globe installation can restart the server/Web service processes.
- Error Message: Booking Number - Failed to login to Globe: Invalid: MAC Address2
Possible Cause: A step from the Exact Globe installation guide was not (properly) followed during the setup of the Exact Globe administration.
Possible Solution: Consult the Exact Globe Web service manual, chapter 2.4, for more information.

Possible Cause: The Exact Globe Web service could not write the booking within the maximum available time set within the Exact Globe Web service installation.
Possible Solution: Try exporting the invoice again. If this problem persists, contact your own IT team or the maintainer of the Exact Globe Web service installation.
