What can you do if an invoice does not open in a new screen?

Within the Invoice Processing module, you can set different menu items to open the PDF of an invoice in a separate screen when you open an invoice. In this article, we explain what to check if this does not happen. Two things influence this: The preference settings within your profile in Spend Cloud, and the popup settings of the browser you are using.

Checking Profile Settings

First, check the settings of your profile to see which menu items have the option to open the PDF in a new screen enabled.
  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of Spend Cloud.
  2. Then, click on 'My profile' in the menu.
  3. Scroll down until you reach the settings for Invoice Processing.
  4. Select 'Yes' for all items where you want the PDF of an invoice to open directly in a new screen.
After selecting all desired options in your profile settings to open the PDF directly, click on Save.

If invoices still don't open in a new screen after setting these preferences in your profile, check your browser's popup settings. Below, we explain how to do this for some commonly used browsers.

Checking Popup Settings

In every browser you use to access websites (such as spend.cloud), you need to indicate whether pop-ups are allowed. By default, pop-ups for websites are not allowed to prevent websites from frequently displaying unwanted pop-ups. Below are instructions for allowing pop-ups for Spend Cloud on some commonly used browsers.

If your browser is not listed here and you don't know how to check your browser's popup settings, or if pop-ups still don't open after setting them up, contact your organization's IT department.

Google Chrome

If you open an invoice in the section where you have enabled this, you may see a rectangle with a slash through it in the search bar at the top right. This means that pop-ups on this page were blocked. Click on this button to manage the popup settings for this page. Then select "Always allow pop-ups and redirects from https://yourenvironmentname.spend.cloud/" and finally click "Done".

Alternative
It may happen that your browser still blocks pop-ups after a while. This can occur because, for example, you have opened many invoices quickly in succession, and due to the large number of pop-ups, your browser may consider this possibly unsafe and still block pop-ups. In that case, you can give permission again as described above. You can also grant permission to a specific website within Google Chrome settings. Here's how:
  1. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of Google Chrome.
  2. Then click on Settings.
  3. Click on 'Privacy and security'.
  4. Then click on 'Site settings'.
  5. Scroll down and click on 'Pop-ups and redirects' under 'Content'.
  6. Next to 'Allowed to send pop-ups and redirects', click on 'Add'.
  7. Enter the name of your environment (yourenvironmentname.spend.cloud) under the site.
  8. Finally, click on 'Add'. The settings will be saved automatically.

If you still don't see pop-ups after setting the above, there may be additional settings on your device blocking pop-ups. Contact your organization's IT department to check the settings.

Microsoft Edge

If you open an invoice in the section where you have enabled this, you may see a rectangle with a cross in the search bar at the top right. This means that pop-ups on this page were blocked. Click on this button to manage the popup settings for this page. Then select "Always allow pop-ups and redirects from https://yourenvironmentname.spend.cloud/" and finally click "Done".

Firefox

If you open an invoice in the section where you have enabled this, you may see a square with a slash in the search bar of your browser. It could also be that you see a bar with the message "Firefox prevented this website from opening a pop-up". Click on either of these, the square or the 'Options' button in the appeared bar. Then choose to allow pop-ups from https://yourenvironmentname.spend.cloud/" in both cases.
