Why is my Spend Cloud Card being declined at the store?
There is a small chance that the Spend Cloud Card is declined by the payment terminal at the store. The message that is usually displayed often reads:
'Card not allowed'
'Card declined'
If there is no subsequent message displayed at the bottom of the card book, please continue reading this article to understand what the user can do to still make the payment and learn about the reason for the initial decline.
Making payment with the Spend Cloud Card afterward
It's important to mention that in almost all cases, the user can still make a payment with the Spend Cloud Card. There are three possible ways, which we present here in videos.
1) Contactless payment, first method
2) Contactless payment, second method
3) Payment with a PIN code
Reason for the Decline
Some Verifone brand payment terminals received an incorrect update at the end of last year. Due to this update, these specific terminals no longer accept Spend Cloud Cards. Verifone resolved this issue a few months ago by reverting the update. The incidents of payment terminals where the Spend Cloud Card is declined decreased by 92.9% from March to April (after the update).
Unfortunately, some payment terminals are so outdated that the problem cannot be resolved anymore. While these payment terminals will eventually be replaced, Spend Cloud Card users can only make payments at these specific points of sale using the methods shown in the videos above. It is not necessary to report these stores or terminals to our support department. Unfortunately, we do not have control over resolving the issue at these specific points of sale.
