When you have an iPhone and our Spend Cloud App, it's possible to add a Spend Cloud Card to the wallet of your phone. This functionality is only available for iPhones (and potentially also for iPads or Apple Watches). This way, you can pay in-store using your digital wallet instead of the physical card. This is done through Apple Pay. If the online store supports it and it's permitted for your card, you can also pay online via Apple Pay. In this article, we explain how to add the card to your device and answer the most frequently asked questions.
1.) To add a Spend Cloud Card to your phone, you need to use the Spend Cloud App. To add the Spend Cloud Card to the wallet of your iPhone, open the Spend Cloud App and navigate from the dashboard to the card you want to use for Apple Pay. Click on 'Add to Apple Wallet' here.
You need to be registered as the liable card owner by the application administrator within your organization in Spend Cloud. If this has not been done, you will see a notification in the app indicating that it still needs to be done. Please contact the application administrator or financial administration at your employer or the organization from which you received the card to have this done.
Another way to navigate to the card settings is by clicking on the menu at the bottom right and then selecting 'Books'. Open the book associated with the card and click on the purple button 'Card Details'.
2.) You are now on a screen with some additional information. Click on the black button at the bottom to add the card to the wallet:
3.) You are now redirected to the wallet on your phone. Your phone will guide you through the further steps to add the card, where you mainly need to click on 'next.' The phone has already filled in the details for you. Review the terms and click 'Akkoord' (Agree)."
4.) The card has now been successfully added to your wallet, but an important step still needs to be completed. You will automatically receive an email with an activation code. You need to enter this code in your wallet. However, your phone may do this automatically.
After entering the activation code, you can start using the card. In the Spend Cloud app, it will look like this:
If you own an Apple Watch, you can optionally add the card to your watch now, but this is not mandatory.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't I see the functionality in my Spend Cloud App?
Only users registered as 'cardholders' have the option to add the card to the wallet. Contact the application administrator or financial administration within your organization if you have any questions about this.
Where can I pay with Apple Pay?
You can use Apple Pay wherever you see symbols for contactless payments like the following:
In the Netherlands, this is possible in almost every store where you can use a debit card.
The card is added to my wallet, but how do I pay in the store?
- Press the side button of your iPhone twice (the button you typically use to lock the phone).
- Wait for the Spend Cloud Card to appear and look at the iPhone to authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode. If the Spend Cloud Card is not your default card in the wallet, tap on the default card and choose the Spend Cloud Card.
- Hold the top of your iPhone near the card reader until you see 'Ready' or a checkmark on the screen.
Do I need to be connected to the internet to pay in the store?
No, you don't need to be connected to the internet to pay with Apple Pay when you are in the store.
How are the expenses processed?
The expenses are processed in exactly the same way as a 'normal' debit card transaction. The payment is recorded in the cardbook, where it can be coded. The amount is deducted from the cardbook balance.
Is this functionality also available for Android devices, such as Samsung?
No, this functionality is only available for iPhones. Unfortunately, we cannot provide information about future developments for Android.
Can my card be removed from my wallet remotely by the organization I work for?
Certainly. Your employer's financial organization can remove the card from your wallet. This is necessary, for example, if you leave the company. Your employer can see which mobile phones or other devices the card is linked to.
Can I add the card to my wallet outside the Spend Cloud app?
Yes, it's possible for the person registered as the responsible card owner, but we advise against it. The functionality works better when you add the card to your wallet via the Spend Cloud app, and it's also much easier to accomplish that way.
If the answer to your question is not found here, please contact the application administrator or the financial administration within your organization.
