The Spend Cloud Card serves as both a Maestro and Debit Mastercard. When making purchases in stores, the terminal usually automatically chooses Mastercard. Users often don't notice this process. Occasionally, the terminal might prompt the user to choose between Maestro and Mastercard. Both options are valid and won't affect the payment process.
PIN and CVC Code for Spend Cloud Card
As a user of a Spend Cloud Card, you can view the PIN code within the Spend Cloud App or web version. In the 'Cards' menu of the web version you can view the PIN code, in the app version this can be found under card details. If you have sufficient rights it is also possible to change the pin code of the Spend Cloud Card in both web and app version of Spend Cloud. When changing the pin code it will be effective immediately. Certain PIN combinations (e.g., 1234, 1111, etc.) are not allowed for security reasons.
When the PIN code is entered incorrectly 3 times, the card will be automatically temporarily blocked. If the card is automatically blocked for this reason, it will be automatically unblocked the following morning (around 6:55 AM). This follows the policy of other major banks in the Netherlands, such as
ING. You can also unblock the card earlier via Card Management, or the responsible cardholder can do this themselves if they have the necessary permissions enabled. If cards are temporarily blocked for another reason, they will not be automatically unblocked.
The CVC code is found on the back of the card and consists of three digits.
The Spend Cloud Card supports contactless payments for amounts up to €50. No PIN code is needed until consecutive payments reach a total of €150. If this happens, the next payment might fail, and you'll need to insert the card physically and enter the PIN.
We are currently working on enabling Apple Pay and Google Pay through the Spend Cloud App in combination with Spend Cloud Cards.
Cash Withdrawals
If your organization requires cash, you can use the Spend Cloud Card to withdraw money. The following restrictions apply:
Maximum of €500 per card per day
You can enable or disable this feature per card, and you can also set a daily limit as long as it's below the absolute limit of €500 per card per day.
Can a Spend Cloud card be used at a Geldmaat (ATM)?
Compatibility with Geldmaat ATMs depends on the type of ATM. Standard Geldmaat ATMs should work with all cards. However, Geldmaat also has special ATMs for withdrawing coins, which unfortunately cannot be used with Spend Cloud Cards.
Chargeback Payments
If you receive a refund for an online payment, it will appear in the same card account. Returning payments in physical stores only work with terminals that accept Mastercard.
It's not yet possible to pay payment requests with Spend Cloud Cards.
Online Payments
If you want to pay at foreign webshops, the specific country needs to be allowed in the card settings.
Keep in mind that the Mastercard part of the Spend Cloud Card is a debit Mastercard. Some vendors might not yet accept debit or prepaid Mastercards.
Public Transport
You can use the Spend Cloud Card for public transportation (OV). However, transactions might not be immediately visible in the card account; they might take up to 48 hours to appear.
