When you make an online credit or debit card payment, the webshop checks, during the payment process, whether you are authorized to make the payment. Therefore, you need to confirm the payment through the Spend Cloud app on your phone. Currently, it is only possible to link one phone per card.
When you make the online payment, you need to confirm it through the Spend Cloud app before completing the transaction. When you open the app, you will see a pop-up screen that looks like this:
Confirm the payment here. Of course, only do this if you are indeed the person making the payment. Never confirm anything you are not aware of. After confirmation, this information is transmitted to the webshop, and your payment is finalized there.
Sometimes an online payment can be done without the need to confirm this. Webshops can decide whether they enforce 3DS and can apply their own rules, for example by not enforcing a confirmation with payments under €35.
When you don't receive notifications
It is important to check in the settings of your phone whether the Spend Cloud App is allowed to send notifications. To check this on an iPhone, read here. For settings on almost all other phones than an iPhone, look here.
In the Spend Cloud App, there is an option to test the push notifications. Go to settings and then to 'Diagnostics'. Click on 'Test push notifications' to check if the notifications are working. Click on 'Reconfigure push notifications' if the notifications are not working. Do you want to read more about this functionality and how to set-up push notifications on your device? Then read this article: configure and test pushnotifications in the Spend Cloud app.
If you are unable to get notifications to work, ask an application administrator within your organization or a colleague to assist you.
If the employee does not see the button to activate online payments in the app, check the following items in Spend Cloud under the menu item Application Management / Cash and Card / Cards:
- Check if Online Payments is selected as a payment option for the card. Edit the card and ensure that 'Online Payments' is checked under payment methods. Is this the case? Then go to step 2.
- Check if a liable card owner is filled in. You can check this in the same screen as the online payments option. Enter the name of the employee here. Can't find the employee? Check the employee's role and ensure that 'Cardholder' is set to Yes.
- Check the linked devices. Online payments can be set up for one device only. When editing the card, choose 'Linked Devices' at the top of the screen. Is there already a device listed? Then online payments are configured for this device. Click on the trash can icon to remove this device.
