This article helps you replace bunq cards with new Spend Cloud Cards. We’ve made the process as simple as possible so you can switch quickly and easily.
Before you start:Make sure you have at least one active balance account with the Adyen payment platform. This is free of charge and is usually set up within 1 to 2 business days. In Spend Cloud, go to Application Management / Cash & Cards / Balance Accounts. Read here what information you need.
Without a balance account, you cannot replace the bunq cards or order Spend Cloud Cards.
Replace existing bunq cards with Spend Cloud Cards
Step 1: Go to Card Management and review the bunq cards you want to replace
In Application Management / Cash & Cards / Card Management, you’ll find your bunq cards. On the right-hand side of the screen, make the following selection:
Status: Requested, To be linked, Active, Temporarily blocked & Expired
You now have an overview of all bunq cards that can be replaced with Spend Cloud Cards.
Step 2: Provide each card with the correct information
Step 3: Select and click the ‘Migrate bunq cards’ button
Select the cards you want to replace by ticking the checkbox on the left side of each card.
Note: Some cards may not have a checkbox. This means they are not eligible for replacement, for example because they have the status “Permanently blocked.”After selecting the correct bunq cards, click the ‘Migrate bunq cards’ button. If this button is greyed out and cannot be clicked, it means you haven’t selected any eligible bunq cards yet. In that case, go back to Step 1.
A pop-up window will now appear with the following steps:
1) Complete the information
Carefully review the details. For each card, you will see:
Pay attentionDo you see a yellow warning box? This means some cards are missing required information.
You can still proceed, but cards with missing information will NOT be included in the replacement. If you also want to replace these cards with Spend Cloud Cards, please note the following:
Missing balance account
Each administration of a bunq card must have an active balance account at Adyen. If you haven’t created a balance account yet, you’ll need to do that first.
Missing liable card owner
Within the pop-up, click on the relevant card to immediately assign a liable card owner to it.
Click ‘Next’ in the bottom-right corner of the pop-up to continue. If the ‘Next’ button is light blue, it means none of your selected cards have all the required information. You will need to correct the card details first (see the yellow warning above).
2) Review the costs and confirm the order
You are now at Step 2: “Confirm.” This screen shows what will happen and any associated costs. Click ‘Confirm order’in the bottom-right corner. After this, you can no longer go back.

Click the “Done” button to close the pop-up window. After closing, the Card Management page will automatically refresh to show the updated status of your cards.
