Requesting a new bunq card

Requesting a new bunq card

You can directly request one or more bunq cards from Spend Cloud if these are the cards your organization uses for payments. In this article, we explain how to do this. Please note: if you prefer to order Spend Cloud Cards instead of bunq cards, please refer to this link.

Steps to Request a New bunq Card

To request a new card:
  1. Navigate to Application Management / Cash & Card / Card Management.

  2. At the top of the card overview in the Card Management menu section, you will find the 'Request New Card' button. Click on it to start the request for one or multiple cards.

  3. If your organization uses both bunq cards and Spend Cloud Cards, choose 'Bunq' at the top.

  4. Depending on your bunq account, you can select either a Maestro or Mastercard card type under 'Card Type.' The bunq-Maestro functions as a regular debit card. The bunq Mastercard is a debit card with credit card functionality. This means you can use it wherever Mastercard is accepted, but unlike a credit card, you're directly debited from your bank account instead of being billed later. So, you can't spend money you don't have.

  5. Choose the number of cards you want to request under 'Number of Cards.' When requesting multiple cards, Spend Cloud will automatically generate a unique card number while keeping other details consistent.

  6. Select the bank account number to which the card should be linked. Depending on your Spend Cloud configuration, you may have one or multiple choices.

  7. Under 'Name on Card,' choose the organization name approved by bunq. If the desired organization name is not available, contact our Support department.

  8. Optionally, enter an 'Additional Marking on Card' if you want an extra detail printed on the card. The card serial number will be automatically assigned, and you can add a marking, such as a location, after the serial number. This marking will appear on all cards requested at that time.

  9. Finally, specify which payment method can be used in which countries and under which limit. The daily payment limit applies to both in-store and online payments. These limits and allowed countries can be adjusted per card later on.
The balance in the bunq account is always leading. If there isn't sufficient funds in the account, the card won't be able to make purchases, regardless of the set limit. To check the current balance, you can view the bank book in Spend Cloud or log in to the bunq app.

If all mandatory fields are filled in, you can click on 'Request New Card(s)' at the top. The delivery address for the cards is the same as the address that is known at bunq. If you want the cards to be sent to a different address, you can contact bunq at partnersupport@bunq.com to inquire about the possibility.

Carefully review the request, verify the delivery address for the cards, and if everything is correct, click 'Confirm' at the top. In the overview, you will now see that a card has been added with the status 'Requested' (identified by the envelope icon).

Don't see the new cards in the list yet? Click on the 'Syncronize' button at the top to refresh the list.

Delivery of the Cards

The time it takes for the cards to be delivered depends on bunq's production and delivery process. Typically, this takes place within five business days. If the cards haven't been delivered after five business days and you wish to check the status, please contact bunq support. You can reach them at partnersupport@bunq.com. You can send the email in English if this is preferable for you.

Activating the Card and Linking it to a Wallet
