What is a liable card owner?
The liable card owner can perform certain actions on the card based on their
rights, such as viewing and changing the PIN code or temporarily blocking the card. Previously, you also had to be the cardholder for this, but that is no longer necessary. When the card manager (formerly cardholder) role is enabled in the additional authorizations, you will have access to all card details of the cards linked to your accounts.
Setting the liable card owner for Spend Cloud Cards
In the card settings of a Spend Cloud Card, you can set a responsible card owner. To do this, navigate to Application Management / Cash & Card / Card Management and edit the Spend Cloud Card by clicking on the pencil icon. At the bottom, you will find the field 'Liable Card Owner':
Through the card settings, an employee with a role in the same organizational unit can be selected as the responsible card owner. With this function, the selected employee gains the ability to see an option in the app to link a device to the card for confirming online payments, and also to link your card to
Apple Pay and/or
Google Pay.
Setting the liable card owner for bunq cards
In the card settings of a bunq card, you can set a liable card owner. To do this, navigate to Application Management / Cash & Card / Card Management and edit the bunq card by clicking on the pencil icon (the same as with Spend Cloud Cards). Here you will find details for the bunq card, such as the card type and Liable Card Owner. The layout for bunq cards looks slightly different than for Spend Cloud Cards:
The liable card owner can be assigned via the menu (see below). Once you click 'Save' in the top-left corner, the selected liable card owner is set.

It is only possible to activate a card once a reliable cardholder has been designated.
Please note: it is not possible to set up Google Pay or Apple Pay for bunq cards.
Why is it important to appoint a liable card owner?
It is important to designate a liable card owner for each Spend Cloud Card for three reasons:
1.) Only the liable card owner can confirm online payments via the Spend Cloud App. This is a mandatory component that must be activated by the liable card owner to make online payments.
2.) Only the liable card owner can add the card to their wallet to pay with Apple Pay / Google Pay. Without a liable card owner, the card cannot be used for payment via Apple Pay / Google Pay.
3.) By setting a responsible card owner, you can keep track of who is ultimately responsible for the card and the payments made with it.
4.) The liable card owner receives important e-mail- and app-notifications about the card, such as detailed information about the reason a payment has failed.

Please note: points 1 and 2 apply only to Spend Cloud Cards.
Transferring a card to another reliable cardholder
When a card is transferred to another user, you as the administrator can change the responsible cardholder via the card settings mentioned above. You must also ensure that the new
user is linked to the book to which the card is linked. This ensures that they can encode their expenses. Once the new user has been designated as the reliable cardholder, they can (if applicable) activate the
confirmation of online payments and add the card to their
wallet.
