Activating a bunq card

Activating a bunq card

After requesting a bunq card, you will receive a letter with the requested card within two weeks.

If Spend Cloud Cards are used in your environment instead of bunq cards, read more about activating these cards here.

Activating the Card

You can activate a card in Card Management, which can be found under Application Management / Cash & Card / Card Management. If a Cash & Card employee already has the right permissions, they can also activate the card themselves through Cash & Card / Cards.

Click on the sync button at the top of card management, the requested card will appear at the bottom of the list, identifiable by the envelope icon. Click on the three dots at the end of the row of the card you want to activate. Among the options, you will find 'Activate card.'

Check if the card number matches the one you want to activate and click 'Activate card.'

In the overview, the status of the activated card is now changed to 'To link.' Additionally, the system has recognized the card as a Maestro or Mastercard, and the row has been given a Mastercard icon if it is a Mastercard.

You can then set a PIN code for the card. The user of the card can also do this themselves if they have the appropriate permissions.

Linking a Card to a Cardbook

To justify the expenses made with the card in the Spend Cloud, a card book must be created and linked to the corresponding card. In the menu item 'Application Management / Cash & Card / Books,' you can add a cardbook or link the card to an existing cardbook.

New Cardbook
Click on 'Add' above the overview to create a new cardbook. After entering a name and choosing the correct administration and organizational unit, select 'Cardbook' for the 'Type of book.' Choose 'Bunq' for the 'Card Brand.' Now, you can select the recently activated card under 'Card.' Once you have filled in the rest of the required fields, click 'Save' at the top. More information about adding a new cardbook can be found here.

Existing Cardbook
You can also link a card to a existing cardbook by navigating to Application Management / Cash & Card / Books and editing the relevant card book by clicking on the pencil icon. Under 'Card,' select the card you want to link to the card book. Note: You will only see activated cards here. You can link multiple cards to one cardbook. Optionally, adjust other details and click 'Save' at the top.

After linking the card to a book, you can assign the right roles to employees and charge the card book.
