Cash & Card module

The transition from bunq to Spend Cloud Cards

To further optimize our service and offer you the best possible payment experience, we'll soon be working entirely with Spend Cloud Cards within Cash & Card. With one unified, future-proof payment solution, we can develop faster, provide better support, and make management easier for you. That's why we're phasing out support for bunq cards. Existing bunq cards will continue to work for now, but as of May 11, 2026, it will no longer be possible to order new or replacement bunq cards via the Spend Cloud. You'll find a detailed explanation and a handy checklist in the corresponding DIRK article.

Our transition tool: guided from start to finish

To make the transition as smooth as possible, we've built a transition tool. The tool guides you clearly through all the steps, provides you with the information you need, and ensures you don't overlook anything. Whether you're migrating one card or converting an entire organization: you stay in control of the process.

Temporarily using both side by side: phased migration without disruption

During the transition, you can use bunq cards and Spend Cloud Cards side by side temporarily. This way, you can migrate at your own pace without disrupting ongoing payment processes. In the DIRK article, you can read exactly how this works, where expenses are debited, and what your administration should pay attention to, including bank books and suspense accounts.

Replace bunq cards in just a few clicks

Since April 15, 2026, you can easily replace existing bunq cards with Spend Cloud Cards via the new 'migrate bunq cards' functionality in the Spend Cloud. The new card is automatically ordered and shipped, including the transfer of settings such as limits and the link to the correct book. The bunq card is only definitively blocked once the new card has been activated. This way, payments continue uninterrupted. A step-by-step explanation is available in DIRK.

Coming soon: IBAN account within the Spend Cloud

We're working on the introduction of an IBAN account within the Spend Cloud. At the moment, the Spend Cloud works with a balance account; in the future, you'll also have a full bank account within the platform. This brings several clear benefits:
  1. Bank statement: easy to request whenever you need it
  2. DGS protection: your balance is protected up to €100,000 through the Deposit Guarantee Scheme
  3. Full control over your balance: make transfers from the IBAN account
  4. Foundation for iDEAL | Wero payments from the Spend Cloud in the future
The expected rollout is Q4 2026. As soon as this applies to your environment, you'll receive a personal message about it.
