Update: A new way of working for even better solutions

For years, your user experience has been central to the development of the Spend Cloud. To align even better with your needs and requirements, we have refined our approach to product development. This means we are now taking more time for thorough research, alignment, and testing of ideas at an earlier stage. By doing this, we ensure that the solutions we build deliver true value, both now and in the future. Consequently, some improvements may take more time to be released, but you can count on them being even more tailored to what you need from the Spend Cloud. For example, we will be focusing more often on structural or underlying process improvements, which may be less visible but have a significant impact. What won't change: We will continue to keep you well and timely informed about what is changing and what that means for you.

What does this mean for you?
  1. You will continue to receive a monthly release email for the time being.
  2. Sometimes there will be fewer visible updates—this is because we are working more frequently on larger, non-immediately visible enhancements.
  3. In those cases, we will inform you about what we are developing behind the scenes, what you can expect, and when you will notice the impact.
  4. Release webinars remain a part of our communication. You will see in the release email if a webinar is scheduled.
We are also researching how to best design our release emails—in terms of content, format, and frequency—to align with this updated development approach. Of course, you will be the first to know when anything changes. In short, we are still actively developing the Spend Cloud, but with a greater focus on structural impact. This may mean fewer visible new features in the short term, but ultimately more value in the long term.

Improvements to the Mailbox

We are continuously working to improve stability and performance within the Spend Cloud. Recently, we have focused on the stability of the Contract Management Mailbox. One of the adjustments we are making concerns the file name of attachments processed via the Mailbox. Going forward, these will be saved in a standardized manner. A few small things will change as a result:
  1. Words in file names will now be separated by a hyphen (-) instead of an underscore (_);
  2. All letters will be automatically converted to lowercase;
  3. Special characters will be translated more effectively (e.g., Crème will become creme).
You will not notice this change within the Spend Cloud itself, but the adjustment is visible when you download attachments. This improvement makes the Mailbox more stable and consistent.

Hierarchy for Automatically Filling Coding Fields

You have several options for automatically populating coding fields. Smart Suggestions is one of them, but you can also choose to set up default values or a workflow. When applying these values, a fixed hierarchy is maintained to determine which automation takes precedence. For example, a general ledger account at the order level can override the default value at the relation level. Since this influences the final values entered, it is important to know exactly how this hierarchy works. Read more in this DIRK article.
